ALARC Core Fitness meets on Monday and Wednesday nights at 6 p.m. and Saturdays at 9 a.m. all year long and you can join in at any time. You will do workouts you would never do on your own and be glad you did! The scope of ALARC Core/Speed Fitness is designed to accommodate those who simply want to become more fit, in addition to ALARC’s historic focus on speed and endurance which has always been a hallmark of these classes.
During the winter months each one and one-half indoor Core session will begin with a warm-up routine and Yoga stretches followed by indoor track workouts, stair repeats and intense upper body and core conditioning exercises.
On Mondays during the summer, the Speed running portion of the class will be added. This will consist of hill repeats and Wednesdays will be track workouts followed each night by additional upper body workouts and stretching.
Sound intimidating? Yes and no! It’s totally challenging for those who are shooting for personal records and basically, everyone essentially participates in the same workouts. However, those just beginning or with different personal goals simply dial in their own effort level and workout repeat numbers to fit their own specific needs and capabilities. Your coaches assist in those decisions. Remember, in ALARC Core Fitness and ALARC Speed, NO ONE gets left behind!
The class fee for ALARC members is just $35 for the entire year. The only other requirement is a current ALARC membership and membership in the Lindbergh Center where we have arranged a special fee of just $60 that is good for one year. Seniors (over 60) and college students are $35. We have even arranged for you to come for a few trial sessions before it is necessary to join the class or Lindbergh. THE RUN DOWN
If you are planning your first race or tenth marathon, ALARC has the right training program whether you have a training base or want to run your first 5K race. If you have commitment and dedication, we have a program that will carry you across the finish line anywhere in the world. The Distance Training Program is based on an 8 week training curriculum written by Bill Wenmark. For more than 20 years this program, faculty andfacilitators have seen thousands of people, from the age of 18-73, finish their first 5K, 10K, Half Marathon or Full Marathon.The classes are held at the Hopkins Lindbergh Community Center near the intersection of Highways 394 and 169. We will meet each Wednesday evening at 6:00 p.m. for a training run followed by a one-hour academic session. Saturday morning training runs at a variety of different locations are also available that will take you from three miles to two 20 mile runs, if in the Marathon Program. This is the most success full marathon training program in the U.S. with a 99.5% success rate.

• Free membership in ALARC for balance of the year after completing your class
All aspects of distance training (nutrition, equipment, injury prevention, weights, hills, intervals, rest, stretching, stress control, etc.) will be taught for each participant.
